A request for votes…

No, not political votes, don’t worry. We will not discuss politics on this blog, I promise. I am asking you (my readers) to vote for the color or black & white version of this photo:

OR

Just leave a comment at the end of this post telling me which photo you chose and why. I thought it might be a fun way to get to know my readers (and I know there are a lot of you who don’t leave comments…so now is your chance!)

Here are some more photos from a trip to Hastings, MN. These are some beautiful girls.

Why I love my job (continued)…

19 04 2008

There are moments in photography when things get really exciting. Like when I see something happening and it is so naturally and truly beautiful that at that moment, taking a photo is just the most amazing gift in the world. Time moves slowly and THIS happens….THIS is why I love my job!!

Why I love my job…

19 04 2008

I am so excited to post these! In fact, I have so many photos I want to show you from this shoot in Rochester, MN, that I think I am going to split it into two separate posts. I love photographing this family… And shoots like this are why I love my job. Not only did I have a great time hanging out with these kids, but there was just something magical about the light that day, the old house they live in, really, the whole thing. And to top it off, the drive from Eau Claire to Rochester is beautiful. It always reminds me of why I love this area of the country. The farms, the hills, the rivers, the …a little Bon Iver in the cd player…Yup, it was a good day.

67 degrees?

7 04 2008

I saw on the news that we hit 67 degrees yesterday here in Eau Claire, WI. Spring is FINALLY here!  I am so…well, relieved!  The snow is almost totally gone from my yard, the trees have buds, the kids have spent the last three days riding their bikes in the driveway–really, what can be better than this?? Can you tell I am excited?

Anyway, here are some photos from a shoot pre-meltdown.  I had a wonderful time with this family.  They were so relaxed and fun, and their little one had the most beautiful blue eyes.
