Feeling warmer already.

21 01 2009

I ‘m just cold. And in my winter depression, I have decided to take a look back to summer of 2008. Believe it or not, it is really helping!! All of the warm colors, the sunshine, the memories of grass and ice cream and sweat…Wow, I am done with winter, and ready for spring!!

Every year we spend some time at my husband’s family cabin. Last year we had the whole family there for about a week. It was a blast. The kids had so much fun swimming, fishing, and chasing each other around, and the adults took turns resting.  Here are some photos of a couple of my nephews from the week. ( I will post some of my boys later…) Hope these warm you up on this dreary winter day!

Okay, I have a question for anyone who knows about computers, blogs, resolution, etc:

When I upload my images, they are really sharp and look great, but when I view them online after they are posted, they are a bit blurry. Is this a blog quality issue, or do I need to OVER-sharpen before I post on the web, or is this caused by something else? I would love any possible response. Thanks!

Happy 2009!

11 01 2009

I know, I am a little late on the whole “Happy New Year” thing, but I figured at least it is still January!

Some of you may know that I had horrible computer problems a couple weeks before Christmas. If you didn’t know….well, uh, my whole entire computer shut down. I had to take it in to MacMan here in Eau Claire. Pretty scary. I always back everything up on a hard drive about once a month but hadn’t done that for December yet…BUT luckily, they were able to recover everything from the hard drive (THANK GOD!) and long story short, God provided a beautiful new computer for me in a way that I could have never guessed would happen. And not just a new computer, the kind of computer that a girl spots at Best Buy and says to her husband “oh honey, wouldn’t it be cool if someday..?” It is actually a very cool story and I just feel so insanely blessed right now. What a super cool way to start the new year!!

I also just started using Lightroom 2 to help with my work-flow. And eventually I think it will help with my work-flow, but I am still trying to get used to a new program while integrating what I already do in Photoshop.

Anyway, here are some photos taken in 2008 of a family of six! You can imagine how many times the shutter clicked on this shoot, so I have a lot to post. And they are all post-processed on my new computer…let me know what you think!

Here she is again…

9 01 2009

My beautiful niece. I have gotten so many requests for updated photos of Ava on the blog that I just had to give in. Here she is at 18 months (around Halloween).

Here she is in one of her Halloween costumes (below)…And she was a little bit crabby the day I shot these, but we got a few cute photos.

Turning 30!

5 01 2009

When I met this client, it was great to know that we had something special in common…we both just turned 30! And while she spent her 30th birthday abroad, while I spent mine “pretending” to be be abroad (we ate supper at an Ethiopian restaurant). : )

Actually my 30th birthday was wonderful. We did eat supper at an Ethiopian restaurant in Minneapolis, we stayed over night at a hotel (with no kids!) and the next day I got to watch my best friend slip hilariously on some mushy snow/ice (the slow-motion kind of slip where you look like a cartoon character and you don’t really get hurt.) I also got to eat brunch with two pastors and a teacher at Hell’s Kitchen (a little bit of irony?) in downtown Mpls , and if you haven’t been there…wow. I would totally recommend it. The food was outstanding.

Anyway, here are some photos from my session with a wonderful (and might I add hilarious?) recently-turned-30-year-old.
