Country girl…

28 08 2009

Here is Kate, a 2010 senior. When I met Kate, I was immediately surprised by how tall she was and very thankful that I had decided to bring my step-stool! (And, by the way, Kelsey, you could have warned me!! lol!)  I was also thrilled with her location choices, and at how comfortable she was in front of the camera. Kate is an animal lover, and we spent some time photographing her with her horses. We had a wonderfully long session that ended at sunset in a wheat field. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Sometimes, when I think about my job, I am overwhelmed by how blessed I am. I get to do what I love every day! I get to meet wonderful people and spend my time doing what I am so passionate about–photography. This career is anything but boring!  I still get goose-bumps when I get that perfect shot, and it still feels like Christmas when I see the photos for the first time. And I never want to take it for granted. I am blessed.

On another note, I will be out of the office for the next few days. My husband and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary, and we are super excited for some time away together (sans kids!) Anyway, I will be returning emails and phone calls when I get back.

Family mini-session

20 08 2009

As you will see from the photos, we had a little bit of fun at this session. And although it was short, it was filled with vogue-like poses, a smooch or two, and even the best nostril flares of all time. And to top it off, I was super excited when they all agreed to squeeze into the cab of the vintage truck…

Next up–Miss Kelsey!

13 08 2009

This was a really fun shoot. I had a great time driving around town with Kelsey and her mom. And although the weather didn’t cooperate the whole time, I think the dark and stormy clouds worked in our favor for some beautiful shots!

Senior Season!

10 08 2009

Whew! Has it sure been busy here at Genesis Photography!  The HS seniors around here are keeping me on my toes, I am loving every minute of it!  Here is the first installment of a great group of seniors I have had the chance to photograph in the last month.

Whimsical? Ehem…Did I hear whimsical?

4 08 2009

I love shoots like these.

I love having full permission to do what I do, and I LOVE hearing a client describe their goal for the shoot like “You know, a few casual family photos and then something whimsical.”

International Adoption Picnic recap

3 08 2009

Well, minus the downpours of rain, the picnic was wonderful! I think everyone who attended had a great time. I was able to squeeze a few family mini-sessions in before it began to rain, and they were so much fun. It was a privilege to meet so many adoptive parents and kids from all over the world! I was especially excited to meet a little 8 month old boy who was just recently adopted from Ethiopia (for those of you who don’t know, my husband and I are adopting a little girl from Ethiopia who is now 8 months old!)We are still waiting on our court date, and when we know that date we will have a better idea when we travel to bring our little girl home. Being at the picnic only made me more excited for the day we meet her!

So here are just a few of my favorites from the day. A special thanks to Sara Lawrence from RavenLark Arts who helped me design the beautiful canopy that you see in the photos. I could not have done it without her help!!!
